This year marks 50 years since the genocidal coup and on the 24th, more than ever, We must be millions in the streets of the entire country. The big businessmen and landowners, with the support of Yankee imperialism and the blessing of the leadership of the Catholic Church, engineered a genocide to finish crushing the rise of the workers’ and popular struggles initiated by the Cordobazo (1969) after the failure of the government of Perón and Isabel to that end, and to liquidate an entire generation of workers’ and popular fighters and leftist organizations.
That same social class, which continued to dominate the country since 1983 under the tutelage of imperialism strengthened after the defeat of the Malvinas, today uses the Milei government and a large part of the governors to finish redesigning the country at the service of international financial capital and the extractivist bourgeoisies. The slave labor reform that they turned into law is one of their historical aspirations, not coincidentally supported by practically all wings of the employers’ associations. The Paolo Rocca and sectors of the UIA now say that they oppose the government because of its policy of openness, but they are no alternative for the working people, as demonstrated by Madanes Quintanilla himself by firing almost 1,000 FATE workers, and as they demonstrated during the genocide by lending their company properties as detention and torture centers.
Like Victoria Villarruel, the Milei justify the genocide, and seek to once again place a cloak of impunity on all those prosecuted and convicted of kidnapping, torturing and murdering our companions. They want to return to the path left by the UCR with Due Obedience and Menem’s Peronism with pardons, impunity that we defeated in the streets with a historic struggle and we cannot allow it to return. The message they try to install as spokespersons for the large economic groups is: “we had to carry out the genocide to defend our order of exploitation and our class privileges, and we will act with similar harshness if necessary.” This is within the framework of the growth of an opposition in the streets, despite the policies of the union bureaucracy, such as the marches against labor reform, the national strike on February 19 and the strike of teachers in 19 provinces, a resistance that has to multiply to move on to the counterattack and defeat Milei and his entire legacy, defeating the anti-repressive protocols to be able to demonstrate with total freedom. We have to go all out until we defeat them with the general strike and a popular rebellion, because with their allies of the governors and the Peronist sector they continue to impose repressive laws on us and prevent the freedom to demonstrate, emptying and closing the sites of memory, criminalizing children from the age of 14, supporting the genocide in Gaza, the criminal blockade of Cuba and the bombings of Iran, all within the framework of a war plan against the working people. That is the best tribute we can pay to our 30,000 today.
Let’s march en masse on the 24th to continue the fight of the 30,000
This 24th there will be millions in all the streets and squares of the country. We call on you to march alongside the PTS and all the organizations that demand the political independence of the Memory, Truth and Justice Meeting, in a column that can read its document in the Plaza, like every year: one march, two documents. An independent document is more necessary than ever in the face of the open betrayal of almost the entire union leadership regarding labor reform. It is necessary to draw conclusions about how March 24, 1976 was reached, the role of the government of Isabel Perón, Operation Independence and the fascist gangs of Triple A. The direct responsibility of the leadership of the Catholic Church. The role of the IMF and external debt. The role of Yankee imperialism, which today kidnaps the president of Venezuela, starves Cuba and launches a war alongside the genocidal State of Israel against Iran. Today the defeat of Trump and his warmongering is key to the struggle in Argentina: he is the main support of the government of the denier Milei.
Let’s open this necessary debate in the unions, student centers, women and diversity groups and all coordination bodies so that this 24th we can march again independently, defending the tradition of the EMVJ.
Join the PTS column, along with Myriam Bregman, Nicolás del Caño, Christian Castillo and the leaders of the main struggles of the moment.
