IPO Circle picks up more than billion

Circle, known for the dollar-linked Stablecoin USDC, raised $ 1.05 billion by offering 34 million shares. The IPO was given a big push due to a strong interest from institutional parties. For example, BlackRock, the largest asset management company in the world, reported on 28 May that it considered a 10 percent interest. Circle postponed the IPO earlier, among other things due to the import duties and trade conflicts under President Trump. Now the moment seems to be well chosen: the strong first trading day raises the question of whether Stablecoin companies are definitely gaining foothold on the public market.

Circle is closely connected to the wider cryptomarket. USDC is the second largest stablecoin, with a market value of more than 32 billion dollars. The currency is widely used in decentralized financial applications (Defi), and acts as a bridge between traditional currency and cryptocurrencies.

Criticism from early investor Arca

Yet the festive start did not go without friction. Jeff Dorman, Chief Investment Officer of Arca, announced in a post -removed post on X that he was angry about the minimum allocation that his fund received at the IPO. Arca invested early in Circle, but, according to Dorman, was allocated only $ 135,000 to shares.
