Ten more Palestinians have been injured in Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours, while Gaza authorities describe the arrival of aid as a “drop in the ocean of needs”.

Several Palestinians have been injured since dawn on Friday after Israeli bombings hit civilian areas in the Gaza Strip, while rights groups warn of the dire humanitarian situation in the war-torn territory.

Local media reported artillery strikes on the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza resulting in at least 10 injuries in the past 24 hours.

According to an Al Jazeera correspondent, Israeli artillery shelling also hit the Shujaiya neighborhood in Gaza City.

Under the US-brokered ceasefire agreement, which came into effect last Friday, the Israeli army is stipulated to “immediately cease” all military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardments and targeted attacks.

However, dozens of Palestinians have been injured and killed in recent days.

Meanwhile, unidentified explosives detonated in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

Last week, Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for the Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza, warned that munitions and explosive robots remain in the area and called on civilians to stay away as they pose a serious danger to life.

“I want to highlight that some houses where [as forças israelenses] were parked and were the target of bombs and have not yet exploded. Civilians who return to these homes may be shocked to find them filled with explosives,” he said.

For more than two years, Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza has killed nearly 68,000 people, with more than 80% of the victims identified as civilians, according to leaked Israeli military data.

Daily bombings destroyed much of the blockaded strip and worsened humanitarian conditions. According to the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), almost all agricultural land in the territory is “destroyed or inaccessible”.

Israel restricts aid

Israel’s restrictions on food aid and life-saving essentials have also caused widespread famine.

As part of the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s 20-point ceasefire plan, Gaza crossings were due to be fully reopened on Monday to allow 400 aid trucks to enter daily, with the number expected to rise to 600 in the coming days.

However, human rights groups have noted that Israeli authorities continue to restrict and limit the amount of aid entering the Gaza Strip.

While 480 trucks arrived in the besieged enclave on Wednesday, the Government Press Office in Gaza described the aid that arrived as a “drop in the ocean of needs,” insufficient for more than 2.4 million people.

“The range requires 600 aid trucks, which must flow continuously and in large quantities, including aid trucks, fuel, cooking gas, relief supplies and medical supplies, urgently, regularly and without interruption,” he added.

UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini called in a post on X that “the flow of aid must be unrestricted to @UNRWA and international NGOs.”

Meanwhile, the UN’s World Food Program (WFP) said on Friday that an average of 560 tonnes of food has been brought into Gaza every day since the ceasefire began last Friday, but more is needed to feed the Palestinians.

“We are still below what we need, but we are getting there… The ceasefire has opened a small window of opportunity, and the WFP is moving very quickly to expand food assistance,” WFP spokesman Abeer Etefa told reporters in Geneva.
