Israel calls Tesla to bid for the supply of official electric vehicles

The Israeli government invited Tesla to participate in a bid for the acquisition of electric vehicles for official use by state authorities. The information was released by the JNS portal.

The initiative is part of a process conducted by the Israeli government to renew the fleet used by public representatives. Tesla, controlled by businessman Elon Musk, was included among potential suppliers.

“We are not going to bow to Woke trends,” said a member of the Israeli government, in reference to criticism related to political positions. According to the employee, “Tesla manufactures great cars” and the government is “eager to study the proposal” of the company.

The relationship between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Elon Musk has been observed on previous occasions. In January, after Musk was accused of gesturing a Nazi greeting during a presidential inauguration ceremony in the United States, Netanyahu stated that the businessman was “being falsely defamed.”

The approach between Musk and Political Leadership also manifests itself in other scenarios. Following Donald Trump’s inauguration in the US presidency, Musk began to occupy a position ahead of the Government Efficiency Department (Doge), an agency with the assignment of revising spending and proposing cuts in the structure of the US Federal Administration.

Musk’s performance in the US government has generated reactions in the country. Tesla has been the target of acts of vandalism in different regions, in protests against the entrepreneur’s participation in decisions in the public sphere.

Tesla’s possible participation in the supply of vehicles to the Israeli government still depends on the procedures provided for in the bidding process. The company has not publicly spoken out about the invitation so far.

The Israeli government has not reported the estimated number of vehicles that could be purchased nor detailed the competition schedule. Bidding occurs in a context of energy transition, with governments from different countries by adopting measures to replace combustion vehicles with electric models.

Tesla’s presence in the international electric vehicle market is recognized for its operations in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East countries. The company maintains factories and distribution centers in various locations, with production focused on both the private sector and institutional contracts.

The invitation to Tesla represents a possible expansion of the company’s performance in government contracts outside the United States. Bidding in Israel occurs amid debates on policies of sustainability, technological innovation and alignment with energy efficiency patterns.

The management of the official Israel fleet is linked to different administrative bodies and includes vehicles used by representatives of ministries, members of Parliament, members of the judiciary and security forces. The replacement of combustion cars by electric models is part of a guideline adopted by several public administrations.

The Israeli Government Logistics Department should conduct the technical and financial analysis of the proposals submitted by the participating companies. In addition to Tesla, other automakers should also be invited to submit their offers.

The specific conditions of the bidding have not been disclosed so far. The government has only reported that it intends to select vehicles with autonomy compatible with the needs of public service and support infrastructure for loading at strategic points.

The possible acquisition of Tesla vehicles may include models already available on the market, such as Model 3 and Model Y, with adaptations according to the requirements established by the Israeli government.

The relationship between large technology companies and national governments has intensified in recent years. The performance of entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk in different areas, including communication, transportation and public administration, has been accompanied by authorities and sector analysts.

The Israeli government has not commented on possible political implications arising from the approach with Musk. The bidding follows regular administrative procedures and must be conducted according to the rules in force in the country.

Tesla, so far, has not issued an official statement about the invitation received or confirmed if it will participate in the bidding process.
