Gaza’s government says attack is part of Israeli plan to “provoke hunger and interrupt humanitarian aid”
Israeli attacks killed six Palestinian guards who protected humanitarian aid trucks on Friday, while they were attacked by looters, in which it appears to be the latest coordination between the Army and local gangs.
According to Anadoli agency, six people were killed and others were injured in Deir al-Balah while trying to “ensure the arrival of trucks to the warehouse of international organizations in the city.”
Armed individuals began attacking humanitarian aid trucks to loot supplies, local media said. While security forces tried to repel the aggressors and protect help, Israeli war planes launched attacks in the area.
Civilians were also targets of the intense bombing. Ambulance teams that rescued the injured and recovered the bodies would also have been shot.
The government’s press office in Gaza vehemently condemned the Israelite attack, describing it as “part of a plan to provoke hunger and interrupt humanitarian aid.”
The cabinet stated that eight attacks targeted the area where humanitarian workers and volunteers were operating at night.
In addition, several dead individuals remain at the attack site due to the difficulty of reaching them, as intense bombing continues.
The press office said the target agents were “performing purely humanitarian tasks,” including the protection of two trucks carrying essential medicines and medical supplies for hospitals in the affected areas.
“It is a complete crime and reveals the true intentions of the Israeli occupation to interrupt the flow of humanitarian and medical aid and create a state of chaos and anarchy.”
The press office added that such attacks are more proof of the Israeli army’s role in allowing the withdrawal of humanitarian aid and essential supplies, stating that their goal is to “ensure that they do not reach their beneficiaries, aiming at those who organize and guarantee their safe passage.”
Nahed Shuheiber, Director General of the Gaza Transport Companies Association, criticized Israeli bombardment to the help distribution points and withdrawals that occurred in Deir Al-Balah, describing actions as “irresponsible” and severely impairing relief efforts.
He emphasized that communities must implement the necessary measures to protect the delivery of essential items “without interruption or exploitation.”
Shuheiber also asked that international agencies to ensure the protection of the aid trains to maintain relief operations amid the catastrophic situation at the besieged enclave.
Aiming for medical warehouse
Meanwhile, the Israeli military attacked a drug deposit at Al-Awda Hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip, burning it and further aggravating the serious shortage of vital medical supplies in Gaza.
The efforts to extinguish the fire, which began on Thursday, were severely harmed, as the Civil Defense teams failed to reach the hospital due to Israeli bombing and restrictions.
The hospital warned that without a quick response, the fire can lead to a total collapse of health services in northern Gaza, which already faces an increasingly severe humanitarian crisis.
The Palestinian Movement Hamas denounced Israeli bombing, saying that “it is another attempt to reach the health sector and destroy what remains of it, as part of the current extermination war against the Gaza Strip.
“The fascist occupation government continues its horrible violation of international laws and humanitarian norms, directly attacking hospitals and inhabited houses, with American political and military coverage and a shameful state of international impotence,” Hamas said in a statement.
Amid a serious shortage of help, the Israeli army intensified its attacks on civilians, help distribution points, health facilities and shelters.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Israel’s continuous attack on Gaza has killed 53,822 people since October 7, 2023, including over 16,500 children.
Doctors without borders warned that the expansion of military operations and expulsion orders have increasingly difficult for Gaza’s population to medical care.
He added that constant attacks against civilians and health infrastructure have severely impaired their response capacity. Medical supplies are also critical due to siege and ongoing bombing.
