Iran performed a new missile attack against Israel on the morning of Tuesday, 17, raising the degree of confrontation in the Middle East.
According to information released by the Times of IsraelApproximately twenty projectiles were launched towards Israeli territory, triggering sirens in Tel Aviv and other central regions. Local authorities instructed the population to seek shelter in safe places immediately after the shooting.
Israel’s defense forces (IDF) reported that antimysis defense systems were activated to intercept the attacks.
Several explosions were recorded in the sky of the Israeli economic capital, and fires were confirmed in different areas, including a parking lot that was hit by wreckage. To date, there are no official reports of injured.
This attack occurs less than an hour after an earlier Iran onslaught, marking the second offensive in a short time. The escalation of violence happens in response to the recent Israeli bombings to Iranian military and nuclear targets, intensifying the tension between the two countries.
Amid the offensive, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollae Ali Khamenei, made public statements through the X platform (former Twitter) in Persian and in English.
In one of the posts, he wrote: “In the name of the noble Haidar, the battle begins.” The name Haidar is a reference to Ali, a central figure for Shiite Muslims, considered the first successor of the prophet Muhammad.
In another message published in English, Khamenei stated: “We must give a strong response to the Zionist terrorist regime. We will not show mercy to the Zionists.” The statements were published while Iran intensifies its retaliation with Israeli military actions of the last days.
The sequence of attacks is part of a growing cycle of hostilities initiated after bombing attributed to Israel against strategic facilities in the Iranian territory. The targets included alleged military research centers and units linked to Iran’s nuclear program, according to local and international sources.
Since then, the two countries have exchanged dozens of offensive, with hundreds of missiles being launched on both sides.
The Iranian government considers Israeli actions as direct threats to their sovereignty and said it will respond with “proportional force” to any attack on its territory. Already Israel stated that it will continue to act preventively to avoid military and nuclear advances of Iran.
The conflict scenario raised the maximum alert in the main Israeli cities. The country’s military command intensified surveillance on airspace and reinforced the defense units at strategic points. Local authorities also increased the readiness level for possible evacuations in residential and commercial areas.
In parallel, diplomatic representatives of major international powers have sought mechanisms to contain climbing and avoid a wider war in the region. The United Nations Security Council should hold an emergency meeting in the coming hours to discuss the aggravation of the situation.
Meanwhile, the international community carefully follows the developments. European Union countries and the United States condemned mutual attacks and called for immediate restraint. Washington reiterated his support for Israel’s security, but also called for Iran to avoid further offensive.
The conflict also had an impact on international markets. The price of oil was discharged in the early hours of the morning, with investors reacting to instability in the Middle East, a strategic region for global energy supply.
Geopolitics experts claim that the continuity of hostilities can result in broader regional consequences, involving state and non -state actors aligned with each side. Hezbollah, Lebanon -based and supported by Tehran, has already expressed solidarity with Iran, while Hamas, in the Gaza Strip, also demonstrated support for recent actions against Israel.
The confrontation is expected to remain in the coming days, especially in the face of public statements by Iranian leaders and the absence of concrete ceasefire initiatives. To date, there is no official confirmation about direct negotiations between the governments of Tehran and Tel Aviv.
