Iran reaffirms that it will not accept negotiations under pressure and sanctions, while the US insists on a new nuclear agreement, raising diplomatic tensions

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi emphasized on Monday (10) that his country will not consider to perform nuclear negotiations under pressure and intimidation. According to Xinhua, he made the comments on a publication on the social media platform X when reacting to the appeals of US President Donald Trump to negotiate a nuclear deal with Tehran.

Aracho said: “We will not negotiate under pressure and intimidation,” referring particularly to Washington’s military threats and sanctions against Iran. “We will not even consider (negotiation) no matter what the subject is. Negotiation is different from intimidation and dictates. ”

The minister reiterated that “Iran’s nuclear energy program has always been and will always remain fully peaceful,” denying any accusation of his “potential militarization.”

Araghchi added that Iran was conducting separate consultations with international stakeholders “on an equal footing and with mutual respect”, with the aim of exploring ways to build more confidence and more transparency in their nuclear program in exchange for “illegal” sanctions lifting.

In an interview with Fox Business Network broadcast on Friday, Trump said he wants to negotiate the nuclear issue with Iran and sent a letter to the country’s leadership.

Speaking of a weekly press conference in Tehran on Monday, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, said the country had not yet received such a letter.
