On Monday 15th, the workers of Acindar Villa Constitución will begin a strike. This was decided at the last congress of delegates of the UOM Section in response to the announcement of 40 dismissals at the Tenaris factory -owned by Paolo Rocca- and another 100 workers at the Acindar plant. At the same time, they denounce that the steel industry’s collective bargaining agreement remains stagnant and without a resolution, while inflation pulverizes workers’ salaries.
Faced with this situation, hundreds of deputies, personalities, human rights organizations, politicians and unions expressed their support for the workers’ claim. Among the signatories of a petition, the support of the National Deputies stands out. Mario Manrique, Sergio Palazzo, Hugo Yasky, Vanesa Siley and Julia Strada of Union for the Fatherland, Myriam Bregman (MC), Alejandro Vilca, Christian Castillo and Nicolas Del Cano of PTS – FITU, Vanina Biasi of PO – FITU and Monica Schlotthauer of IS – FITU. The Provincial Deputy of Santa Fe also added his support Carlos Del Frade for the Social and Popular Front and Norma Ríos President H. Apdh Argentina.

Violeta Finocchiaro, president of the Student Center of the Humanities and Arts Student Center (Pampillón group leadership) of the UNR, Lautaro Habibi – Board Member for the student body of the Left Student Front – EnClave Roja of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts, the Gender and Diversity Secretariat of the HyA UNR Student Center, the president of the Student Center of the IES NRO 28 “Olga Cossettini”, the Gender and Human Rights secretariat of Houssay, the Student Worker Secretariat of the Student Center of the Higher Teacher Training Institute Nº 22 “MAESTRO ADDAD” of Fray Luis Beltrán and the En Clave Roja and Carpa Blanca groups of ISPEL N° 3 Villa Constitución also spoke in support.
Since the beginning of the year, Acindar has been laying off contracted and outsourced workers: 300 employees have been left out. Now all workers have been suspended, the employer has stopped the factory on two occasions and has submitted a plan to the Ministry of Labour to lay off 100 plant workers. The impact on the workshops that work directly and indirectly for Acindar is also enormous, with the jobs of thousands of workers at risk.
