The PP won the regional elections in Extremadura this Sunday, but it is an incomplete victory for the objectives pursued with the early elections. María Guardiola sought, on the one hand, to get rid of the burden of Vox, something that she has not achieved and, on the other, to put an end to a situation of “blockade”, in her own words, caused by the PSOE and the extreme right to approve the Budgets, something that she has not achieved since 2024, when the PP-Vox coalition in Extremadura was still active.

This electoral event consolidates the shift to the right of the Extremaduran electorate that began in 2023. The sum of PP and Vox has obtained 60.7% of the votes, while the sum of the left does not reach 36%. However, these good data are capitalized above all by the extreme right, which goes from five to 11 deputies and obtains 40,000 more votes than in 2023.
