While Harris has said little about crypto to date, her recent interactions with crypto community leaders point to a potentially more positive regulatory approach than that of current President Joe Biden. This development was highlighted by recent comments from Mike Novogratz, CEO of asset manager Galaxy.
Novogratz is optimistic that Harris will embrace pro-crypto policies, thanks in part to her background in San Francisco, a city known for technological innovation.
Traditionally, Republican politicians, such as Senator Cynthia Lummis, have shown more outspoken support for the crypto sector. However, more and more Democrats now appear to be supporting cryptocurrency as well, calling for an overhaul of the strict regulations of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Trump’s crypto visie
Unlike Harris, Republican candidate Donald Trump has already spoken out loudly in support of the crypto sector. Trump has announced plans to fire SEC Chairman Gary Gensler and stressed that all Bitcoin (BTC) should remain in the hands of the U.S. government.
According to Trump, America must continue to lead in digital innovation, or other countries will seize the opportunity. He praised the crypto space as a modern form of money and stressed the importance of investing in energy infrastructure to support future industries, such as Bitcoin mining.
