The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, announced on Monday a “comprehensive response with 50 measures for the affected areas” by the wave of fires that has affected Galicia, Castilla y León, Extremadura and Andalusia throughout the month of August. The first of them, “radically stop the fires that occur voluntarily and intentionally” with the implementation of a “National Registry of Pytomania in which all the persons condemned by means of a judgment sign for having caused a fire”, including the “mandatory to use telematic location bracelets”.
The PP leader has reappeared on Monday with a press conference at the national headquarters of the party with criticism of the government’s “absences”. Feijóo has assured that he wants to “prevent” that the fires “become a political anger” a few days after Elías Bendodo called “a pyelum” to the director of Civil Protection.
Feijóo has announced a plan of “50 measures” of which it has broken down 15. The first, that “registration of pzynos” of which neither the PP nor their leader have given details. In the document distributed to journalists with the proposed measures, it is limited to pointing out: “Create a National Registry of Piómanos to identify those convicted of fires, and impose telematic bracelets, especially during the months of greater danger of forest fires.”
Feijóo has said that there has been a “paralyzed and absent government” in the fire crisis, which has branded “national crisis”, although just one week ago the PP parliamentary spokeswoman, Esther Muñoz, said in the same press room in which his leader has intervened today that it was not convenient to declare a national emergency.
“The central government has failed in its prevention,” said Feijóo. “He has not put all the means available so that the crisis did not have the intensity we have risen in recent weeks,” he said. “There has been a lack of planning,” he insisted, to ensure that “there have been fewer operating means of the central government in this August than last year” or that “it took five days to mobilize European aid”, which has reached “on accounting.”
“Even today, some of the army doctors who have requested the autonomous communities have not reached the territory,” said Feijóo, who has assured that “it was evident” that there was going to be a fire crisis because there was “a risk added by the rains and additionally due to temperatures above 30 degrees.”
Feijóo has defended the work of the regional presidents of the PP whose communities have been the most affected by the fires. “They have faced devastating, atypical fires,” he said. The PP leader has argued that there have been “fires in Zigzag” and “in quadrant” that have hindered the work of extinction.
“The competition is from the Autonomous Communities and have exercised them,” he said. But “the deployment of national and international media is from the government. The G was late for lack of prevention and commitment in the first days,” he accused.
“He has acted late,” Feijóo insisted, who has lamented that the government would not have displayed “its means” before August 15 “.
The PP leader has ignored that the president of Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, said on August 13 that he did not need more means since he had “enough.” The communities of the PP did not send to the central government the concrete list of requests until the last minute of August 15.
Against Margarita Robles
Feijóo has also replicated the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, who has made a call for responsibility and the “conscience” of the autonomous communities governed by the PP when considering that its leaders “have not assumed their obligations” before the fire wave of this summer.
Speaking to journalists during her visit to the El Goloso Military Base (Madrid), the minister has asked these communities to “be brave” and tell “the truth” regarding that management. According to Robles, the “silence” of those regional leaders “perhaps” is due to the influence that Feijóo is exerted on them.
The PP leader has been “surprised” by the words of Robles who, he said, wants to “avoid his own responsibilities.” Feijóo has argued that the minister has said “privately” other things to regional presidents, although he has not revealed what.
