Opinion surveys also show apprehension among United States voters about the direction of the war. Research by the Quinnipiac Institute indicated that 71% of respondents believe that the conflict against Iran could last months or even more than a year.
This scenario increases political pressure on the White House, especially as prolonged conflicts in the Middle East tend to generate high economic costs and internal political strain.
Trump minimizes criticism and talks about punctual operation
Despite criticism and growing debate, Trump has minimized questions about the war. In recent statements, the president stated that the military offensive is part of a specific operation against Iran and should not turn into a prolonged conflict.
During a press conference, he declared: “This was just an excursion into something that had to be done. We’re getting very close to finishing that too.”
The president also reiterated that the United States would accept only one “unconditional surrender” by the Iranian authorities as a way of definitively ending the conflict.

The debate over the war occurs amid the escalation of hostilities between Washington and Tehran, which has already caused thousands of victims and increased instability in several regions of the Middle East.
