During an interview with the Ukrainian Public newspaper in Kiev last Sunday, Kaja Kallas, the new diplomatic head of the European Union, highlighted the expansion of Russian influence on the world stage.
Kallas, who recently took on the role of EU High Representative to Foreign Affairs e Security Policyexpressed concern about emerging geopolitical alliances involving the Russia, Iran, North Korea e China.
“America is worried about China, but it should be more worried about Russia. We see Russia, Iran, North Korea and China working together.
We also see what [o presidente russo Vladimir] Putin is doing it in other countries, significantly increasing his influence”, declared Kallas during his visit to the Ukrainian capital.
Kallas, who previously served as Prime Minister of Estonia, is known for her frequent criticism of Russian foreign policy.
His visit to Kiev took place simultaneously with the start of his term in the European Union, on December 1, a date that also marked his trip with Antonio Costa, head of the European Council.
Kallas’s emphasis on the threats posed by Russia reflects the complexity of current international relations and the need for continued vigilance by Western powers regarding Russian activities and influence in various regions of the world.
