Ethereum (ETH) is not doing well. It can be seen in the relative appreciation compared to Bitcoin (BTC). For example, an ETH is now only worth 0.0228 BTC, the lowest ratio since May 2020. This low rating amounts to only quarter in ten years, according to expert Virtuos via an X post.
Persistent sales pressure
In the first three months of 2025, Ethereum had to endure it considerably. The second largest crypto currency saw its value fall by no less than 47.60%, a historic thump. January started relatively quietly with a modest decrease in around 1.3%, but February hit like a bomb with a price fall of almost 33%. As if that wasn’t enough, ETH lost another 14%in March, ending the first quarter deep in the red.
What makes this downward trend even more worrying is the dominance of sellers on the market. The net taker volumes, which reflects the difference between merchants and sales orders, remain deep in red, indicating that sellers have the upper hand and buyers are largely on the sidelines. This pattern has rarely been so intense and long -lasting, not even in earlieris markets.
Ethereum has not experienced such a weak start of the year in the last ten years. The sales pressure was unprecedented and investors with a big question: can ETH still recover, or will the downward trend continue to dominate?
Look at the future
Although Ethereum was historically a strong start of the year, 2025 is clearly deviating from this. Yet there is a bullish signal. According to analyst Ali Martinez, Whales uses the sale and have bought more than 420,000 ETH in just five days, worth $ 815 million.
