Anyone who thought that Elon Musk is no longer involved in politics is wrong. The second richest man in the world again grabs the spotlight, this time not with a rocket launch or a new Tesla model, but with an ominous warning. According to him, the United States is standing out straight at a financial disaster.

Debt crisis makes dollar shaky

During an interview at the All in Summit, Musk took a fierce learn to the American government. With the national debt in the meantime above 37 trillion dollars, the interest payments are now higher than the entire defense budget.

Musk summarizes the situation with one sentence: “We are the bobbin.” In addition, he added that the American budget policy can no longer be saved. “It is in fact irreparable,” he said.

During the Coronapandemie, the US national debt rose sharply. Within a quarter, the debt increased by around 14 percent, to nearly 26.5 trillion dollars. After that sharp increase the growth slightly finished, but there was no question of a large lighting. Almost five years later, the debt is now more than 37 trillion dollars, an increase of almost 40 percent.

The problem is that this towering debt produces the state enormous interest charges. In addition, the interest rate is currently relatively high, between 4.25 and 4.50 percent. For comparison: the European Central Bank (ECB) currently applies an interest rate of 2 percent. For Washington this means that huge amounts are needed to only support the debt.

Clash for debt law

The towering national debt previously led to an open fight between Musk and Donald Trump, despite their earlier political alliance. The fracture arose around the infamous budget law ‘Big Beautiful Bill’, a law of Trump that would increase the debt with another 3.3 trillion dollars. Musk called that policy “a disaster” and even threatened with the establishment of its own political party: the ‘America Party’.

Although he has now put those plans in the refrigerator, Musk remains unpredictable. For example, he recently approached JD Vance, the current vice-president and favorite favorite for the Republican nomination in 2028. According to those involved, Musk would even have indicated that he was willing to support Vans’s campaign financially.

In the meantime, Tesla is trying to convince Musk to be less concerned with politics and to focus more on the company. He therefore recently received $ 29 billion in shares, intended to bring his focus back to his companies. In addition, a plan is ready in which Musk can even receive a gigantic amount of 1 trillion dollar, provided he manages to achieve some extremely ambitious goals.
