Havana demands response from the international community
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel denounced a “criminal attack” by the United States against Venezuela this Saturday, stating that “our #ZonaDePeace is being brutally attacked.”
The statement – released through its social media account – is part of a regional condemnation of direct military aggression against Venezuelan territory.
“State terrorism against the brave Venezuelan people and against our America”, declared the president of Cuba, a country that lives under an economic embargo from the United States.
Díaz-Canel demanded an “urgent response from the international community” to the attacks carried out in the early hours of today, in the city of Caracas. His statement is in line with that of Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, who strongly condemned the continued US military aggression against Venezuela.
“The bombings and acts of war against Caracas and other parts of the country are cowardly acts against a nation that did not attack the USA or any other country,” stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs in his publication.
Aggression
Likewise, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz denounced the aggression on his social networks, joining the condemnations made in the region regarding the growing military threat.
“The attacks against Caracas and other locations require the urgent mobilization of the international community to defend Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace,” shared the minister on social media.
The Venezuelan government confirmed a “very serious” US military aggression against civilian and military sites in the states of Miranda, Aragua, La Guaira and the capital, Caracas.
In response to the situation, authorities ordered the “immediate deployment of the Nation’s Comprehensive Defense Command and Comprehensive Defense Management Bodies in all states and municipalities in the country,” according to a statement released by the Venezuelan government.
