Crypto will become even more mainstream this year, asset manager predicts

You cannot ignore the fact that Bitcoin (BTC) and crypto will have become a lot more mainstream in 2024. The launch of stock exchange funds in the United States in particular has made a significant contribution to this. The emerging industry is now being taken a lot more seriously, and asset manager WisdomTree believes adoption will only accelerate this year.

‘Bitcoin is no longer a niche investment’

2024 will be remembered as a successful year for the crypto industry in many different ways. The bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in particular have made an impression. In fact, it was the best ETF launch of all time.

Wisdomtree is one of the parties that has launched such a fund. In a new report, they wrote that the launch of these American funds has helped bring crypto to the general public.

This year they expect this momentum to continue to build. Reference was made to the new regulatory era under pro-crypto President Donald Trump.

According to WisdomTree, Bitcoin is no longer considered a niche investment, and increased adoption is forcing reluctant investors to consider the asset class. If the financial watchdog in America allows bitcoin funds, you can no longer simply write it off as a scam.

The wealth giant further noted that portfolios with allocations in Bitcoin consistently outperform portfolios without the world’s largest cryptocurrency.

More crypto ETFs on the way?

WisdomTree also wrote about the possible arrival of additional crypto ETFs. Last summer, Ethereum (ETH) was of course allowed to join Bitcoin on the American stock exchanges, but this year we could get many more funds.

There are applications with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch ETFs for Solana (SOL), Ripple (XRP), Litecoin (LTC) and Hedera (HBAR).

“The next wave of altcoin ETPs will increase the diversity of crypto investment opportunities and further integrate cryptocurrencies into the global financial system,” wrote analyst Dovile Silenskyte.

With the resignation of SEC head Gary Gensler, the chance of the arrival of other altcoin ETFs has become much greater. According to Bloomberg analysts, Litecoin may be the first in line.
