Bitcoin (BTC) has slipped again today, just like most other cryptocurrencies. While we are actually hearing cautiously positive sounds from the new round of negotiations between the United States and Iran.

In this price update we will tell you exactly what has emerged and what the current position of the market is.

Increasingly lower highs for BTC

After a volatile day, Bitcoin is clearly taking the downward path today. The price has taken a hard fall along with Wall Street.

Shortly after the opening of the American stock markets, at 3:30 PM Dutch time, Bitcoin plummeted. It fell 1.7 percent in less than half an hour. The Bitcoin price went from about $88,000 to $66,800.

Last night Bitcoin reached $69,000, $70,000 yesterday afternoon and $71,000 on Sunday morning. So the highs are getting lower and that is of course not a good sign.

Now we just have to hope that it manages to stay above $65,200, last week’s low. But today we don’t seem to have to worry about that, as the price has now recovered to almost $68,000.

This afternoon around 3 p.m., Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that “good progress” has been made in the second round of negotiations in Geneva between the US and Iran.

“We have agreed on guiding principles to begin drafting the text of a potential agreement,” he said. “Drafting the text will be hard work, but the first step has been taken.”

It does not yet mean that a deal will be reached, but it is at least a first positive message. Discussions will continue in the ”near future”.

At the time of writing, the BTC price is at $67,697, 0.15 percent lower than 24 hours ago. In euros, 56,926 are now paid for the largest cryptocurrency.

Altcoins are doing better, except XRP

What is striking is that many altcoins are having a better day today than Bitcoin. The vast majority of the market is cautiously turning green.

Ethereum (ETH) is up 0.78 percent, BNB (BNB) is up 1.38 percent, Solana (SOL) is up 1.04 percent and Dogecoin (DOGE) is up 1.21 percent. Ripple (XRP) is still 0.62 percent lower.
