A recent code leak from Elon Musk’s social media platform X has fueled rumors of the impending launch of X Money, an ambitious new payment system. The platform has now secured transaction licenses in 39 US states, but it remains unclear when X Money will be officially launched.
Speculation surrounding the code leak
A screenshot of the leaked source code contained the message: “X Money is not available in your state.” This has led to speculation that X Money may be rolled out without approval in all 50 states. Alex Finn, an American entrepreneur, suggested during an X Spaces session that cryptocurrencies may become an integral part of X Money.
“X payments will somehow support cryptocurrency,” he declared.
Elon Musk has repeatedly expressed his interest in Bitcoin (BTC) and Dogecoin (DOGE) in the past. Tesla, his company, already accepts DOGE as a form of payment and also owns a significant number of Bitcoins. This makes the integration of crypto into X Money a logical next step.
Licenses and Restrictions
According to reports, X Money will initially only be available in the states where licenses have been obtained. States such as New York and California are excluded from the rollout for the time being. This means that the launch will be gradual unless additional approvals are obtained in the short term. There is currently no information available about availability outside the United States.
2025 launch confirmed
X CEO Linda Yaccarino recently confirmed that X Money will launch in 2025. However, the company remains reluctant to share details about the alleged code leak or a precise launch date.
An important question remains whether Dogecoin will play a prominent role within X Money. Musk’s continued support for the memecoin fuels the hopes of investors and Dogecoin fans. If DOGE is actually integrated, this could mean a significant boost to the value of the memecoin.
