The “Land Aircraft Carrier” model combines ground and air in bold engineering, transforming cars into aircraft with a simple touch and defying traffic jams
The sky of Dubai was the stage for a moment that seems to have come straight out of science fiction, but is now reality. The Chinese company XPENG AEROHTan affiliate of electric vehicle manufacturer XPENG carried out a demonstration flight of its newest flying carmarking a significant advance in the global technological race for low-altitude aircraft.
The event, which attracted the attention of authorities, businesspeople and curious onlookers, presented to the public the company’s most recent model: the innovative “Land Aircraft Carrier”an ingenious combination of terrestrial vehicle, known as “mothership”and a detachable aerial module. This structure allows the car to transform into an aircraft in just a few moments, paving the way for a future in which urban congestion can be overcome literally through the air.
The demonstration showcased the features that make the XPENG AEROHT project a technological milestone. The vehicle can operate in two modes: automatic and manual. In automatic mode, takeoff, flight and landing are carried out with just one touch, thanks to an intelligent route planning system. In manual mode, the pilot uses a single lever controlwhich concentrates six operations on a single joystick, allowing agile and intuitive handling — all with just one hand.
During the flight, the public was able to follow the entire detachment and reconnection sequence of the aerial module, one of the main innovations of the project. The aircraft’s precision and stability impressed those present and reinforced XPENG AEROHT’s role as one of the leading companies in the transition to urban air mobility.
The demonstration was not just symbolic — it also marked a major commercial breakthrough. XPENG AEROHT confirmed having received 600 orders for the “Land Aircraft Carrier” model in the Middle East regionrepresenting the biggest international sales of the company to date.
During the ceremony, the Consul General of China in Dubai, Ou Boqianhighlighted the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the field of technological innovation. She stated that both China and the UAE see the science and technology as fundamental pillars of economic growthhighlighting that this partnership creates a fertile environment for new investments and collaborations between companies on both sides.
O founder of XPENG AEROHT, Zhao Deliwas also present and was confident in the potential of the Middle East as one of the main markets for air mobility. According to him, the Dubai’s opening to innovationcombined with the strong demand for futuristic transportation solutions and to government support for new technologieswere decisive factors in choosing the city to host the debut flight.
Zhao also revealed that the company intends officially launch the flying car on the regional market by 2027consolidating its presence in a sector that promises to radically transform the way people move.
Images from the event showed the enthusiasm of spectators. The pilot waved to the public after landing smoothly, while Zhao Deli opened the vehicle’s doors to demonstrate the practicality of the design and gave interviews to the press. The atmosphere was one of celebration and optimism — a clear portrait of how the future of mobility is closer than many imagined.
With the successful flight in Dubai, XPENG AEROHT not only reinforces the leading role of China in the development of low-altitude aircraftbut it also symbolizes the beginning of a new era in which cars and planes merge into a single concept of intelligent and sustainable transport.
The horizon of urban mobility has just gained wings — and this time, the starting point was the technological heart of the United Arab Emirates.
