With international pressure increasing, Beijing defends negotiations and snakes that the US returns to dialogue to avoid dangerous geopolitical climbing


China, Russia and Iran held a meeting in Beijing to discuss the Iranian nuclear issue on Friday (15), in a new attempt to strengthen communication and make way for the resumption of negotiations. Beijing’s meeting was chaired by Chinese Foreign Deputy Minister Ma Zhaoxu, with the participation of his Russian and Iranian colleagues, Ryabkov Sergey Alexeevich and Kazem Gharibabadi.

In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the three countries emphasized the need to end all illegal unilateral sanctions and reiterated that political and diplomatic engagement and dialogue based on the principle of mutual respect remain the only viable and practical option.

China and Russia have welcomed Iran’s reiteration that its nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes, not for the development of nuclear weapons, and also welcomed Iran’s commitment to the full compliance of their obligations under the non -proliferation of nuclear weapons (TNP) and the comprehensive safeguard agreement, supported Iran’s policy to continue cooperation with the international agency. Atomic Energy (AIEA) and emphasized the need to fully respect Iran’s right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy as a state starts from the TNP.

Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the China Communist Party Central Committee (CCP) and China Foreign Minister, met the deputy ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Iran. Wang proposed to remain committed to the structure of the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (JCPOA) as the basis for a new consensus.

“China expects all parties to work in the same direction and resume dialogue and negotiation as soon as possible. The United States must demonstrate political sincerity and return to negotiations as soon as possible,” said Wang.

He expressed opposition to UN Security Council intervention pressure (CSNU). Under the current situation, CSNU’s hasty intervention will not help build confidence or overcome differences between the relevant parts. Starting the snapback mechanism would undo years of diplomatic efforts and should be treated with caution.

Beijing’s meeting was a useful effort from China, Russia and Iran in search of advancing the solution of the Iranian nuclear issue, said China’s Ministry of Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning.

China is ready to work with other parts for fair, balanced and sustainable resolution for the Iranian nuclear issue, defend the international regime of nuclear non -proliferation and promote international and regional peace and stability, Mao added.
