The Cardano (ADA) Network is preparing for a crucial moment in its development. A new proposal has been made public that the blockchain must enable to process many more transactions than before.

Cardano becomes faster without sacrificing decentralization

Input Output Global (IOG), the company behind the development of Cardano, has officially submitted an important scale proposal to the Cardano Foundation. This is a so -called Cardano Improvement Proposal (CIP) that is intended to drastically increase the processing speed of the network. In addition, it does not promise to make concessions on safety or decentralization.

Ouroboros Leios is the name of the proposed consensus update. It introduces a fundamentally different structure for how Cardano blocks are processed. Instead of one type of block, there are three types:

  • Inputblok: collects new transactions from users and performs the first processing.
  • Approval block: checks and confirms the input blocks that have been collected earlier.
  • Ranking block: determines the order in which approved blocks are placed in the blockchain.

By splitting these tasks, the network can perform multiple processes at the same time, which increases speed and capacity. Research from the team shows that this is possible without harming the safety of the system. However, this requires more powerful computers because of the higher hardware requirements.

Founder Charles Hoskinson shared his enthusiasm in a video. He currently calls Cardano the “most decentralized crypto” in the world, with the best “on-chain governance system”. He is referring to the important decisions about the future of the network that are taken directly by the community. With Leios he indicates that the network will soon be one of the fastest block chains.

Midnight Launch is approaching

The Cardano community has a lot to look forward to. In addition to Leios, the upcoming launch of Midnight is also a much -discussed development. According to founder Charles Hoskinson, this will be “one of the greatest events ever” within the ADA ecosystem.

Midnight is a privacy -oriented blockchain that makes confidential transactions possible between networks such as Cardano and Bitcoin (BTC). It functions as a so -called Sidechain, which means that it runs parallel to the main blockchain of Cardano. This creates space for new applications, such as the safe storage and sharing of sensitive data, for example medical records, on the blockchain.

The network introduces two tokens: Night, which serves as governance token, and is for private transactions. The corresponding AirDrop has since started, where holders can claim tokens. Not only holders of Cardano, but possibly also owners of Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL) and Bitcoin can be eligible for free tokens.
