The country’s manufacturing industry saw a significant 6.3% increase in real revenue in June this year, compared to the previous month. This significant increase signals a robust recovery after the 4.8% drop recorded in May. In the first half of the year, the sector accumulated a 1.4% growth in real revenue compared to the same period last year.
The data was released this Thursday (1st) by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
“The growth recorded in June demonstrates the overcoming of several challenges faced in May, such as strikes in the automotive sector and the impacts of the rains in Rio Grande do Sul,” explained Marcelo Azevedo, Economic Analysis Manager at CNI. He highlighted that the floods in the state affected not only local production, but also factories that depend on inputs from Rio Grande do Sul.
Other indicators also showed positive results. The number of hours worked in Brazilian industry grew 2.2% between May and June, accumulating a 2.6% increase in the first half of the year. The sector’s real wage bill increased 4.3% from May to June and 3.8% in the first half of the year.
The average income of workers in industry also registered growth, with an increase of 4.2% in June compared to May and 2.2% in the first half of the year.
Although employment in the sector remained stable from May to June, it accumulated an increase of 1.6% in the first half of the year, according to data from CNI.
These results reflect a trajectory of recovery and growth for the manufacturing industry, bringing positive prospects for the country’s economy.
