Ministry of Foreign Affairs again criticizes Israeli actions and highlights the death of children who were in line to collect water for their family
The Brazilian government condemns the Israeli operations carried out in recent days in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in dozens of deaths, with a high number of women and Palestinian children among them. In the most recent episode, in the Al-Nusorat refugee camp, children were killed in an Israeli air strike as they ran up to collect drinking water for themselves and their families. The Israeli military forces admitted the authorship of the attack and attributed it to the “technical error.”
The consequences of such actions are incompatible, in the light of Humanitarian International Law, with the obligations of the occupying power and must be investigated with a view to the proper calculation of responsibilities.
Brazil regrets, moreover, that such deaths will be added to the approximately 800 accumulated in the last six weeks, occurring with humanitarian aid stations in Gaza controlled by the Israeli government.
Once again, innocent civilians are victims of Israeli military action against densely populated areas and in humanitarian aid lines.
The Brazilian government reaffirms, in this context, its appeal by an immediate ceasefire, which guarantees the termination of hostilities, the release of Israeli hostages in the power of Hamas and the unfit flow of humanitarian assistance.
