Presidents of Chile and Colombia highlight punishment against scam
The conviction of former President Jair Bolsonaro for an attempted coup d’état repercussions among Latin American presidents on Thursday night (11).
Following the achievement of the result of the judgment of the First Class of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Chilean President Gabriel Boric spoke into a post on social networks.
“My respect for Brazilian democracy, which has resisted an attempt to blow and now judges and condemns those responsible. They tried to destroy it, and today it emerges stronger. Democracy always,” the Chilean wrote.

Who also spoke was the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro. In sharing the news of the Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, who criticized the trial, the Colombian leader highlighted the importance of the fact.
“Every scammer must be convicted. These are the rules of democracy,” he posted.
Earlier, in a statement, the Itamaraty Palace reaffirmed the independence of the judiciary in Brazil, in a response to Marco Rubio, US secretary.
Judgment
The first class of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) concluded on Thursday (11) the trial of the action of the coup plot.
By 4 votes to 1, the ministers condemned former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven allies for crimes of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état, damage qualified by violence and serious threat and deterioration of listed heritage.
Most of the defendants were sentenced to more than 20 years in prison in closed regime.
Despite the definition of the conviction time, Bolsonaro and the other defendants will not be arrested immediately. They can still appeal the decision and try to reverse the convictions. Only if any appeals are rejected, can the arrests be effective.
