According to a new report from Bitwise Asset Management, a leading crypto investment firm, the crypto market is set for a revolutionary year in 2025. Following the successes of 2024, including the introduction of spot Bitcoin ETFs and improved regulation under President Donald Trump, Bitwise predicts even bigger breakthroughs in the coming year.
New all-time highs for major cryptocurrencies
Bitwise expects all major cryptocurrencies to reach new all-time highs by 2025. Bitcoin could rise to $200,000, while Ether goes to $7,000 and Solana more than triples to $750. These increases are mainly attributed to an increase in ETF inflows, which are often even larger in the second year than in the first.
In addition, Bitwise emphasizes that institutional investors, such as pension funds (401(k) plans), could pump billions into crypto if US regulations further relax. The report also predicts a doubling of the number of countries that actively hold Bitcoin as a reserve, from nine to eighteen. This so-called “Bitcoin arms race” between countries would be a major driver for further price increases.
Stablecoins, tokenization and AI-driven memecoins
Bitwise also sees huge growth for stablecoins, which would benefit from clearer legislation and integration with fintech companies. Their combined market cap could double to $400 billion. Furthermore, the report predicts an explosive growth of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), such as real estate or bonds, with a value that could exceed $50 billion. Wall Street is said to be showing increasing interest in this sector.
A striking prediction is a possible new memecoin mania, even bigger than that of 2024. Thanks to AI technology, it will become easier than ever to launch tokens, according to Bitwise, which could further fuel the hype.
Coinbase to the S&P 500?
Bitwise also sees a strong year for crypto-related companies. Major players such as Circle, Chainalysis and Kraken could go public via IPOs. For Coinbase, the report predicts its share price to more than double to $700, which would surpass Charles Schwab as the world’s most valuable broker.
Bitwise even suggests that Coinbase could be included in the prestigious S&P 500 index. MicroStrategy could also join the Nasdaq 100, meaning almost every American investor would be indirectly exposed to crypto through traditional financial products.
Looking ahead: a new era for crypto?
With rising prices, increasing institutional adoption and broader integration into traditional financial systems, Bitwise predicts that 2025 will be a milestone for the industry. If these expectations become reality, it would not only transform the crypto market, but also fundamentally change crypto’s position in the global economy.
