Crypto exchange Bitvavo recently announced the introduction of ten new trading pairs for USD Coin (USDC). With trading fees of 0.05% or lower, Bitvavo aims to position itself as one of the most cost-efficient platforms in the market.
The new trading pairs include some of the biggest names in crypto, such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Cardano (ADA), Solana (SOL), and Ripple (XRP). Additionally, there are pairs with the memecoins Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB). Also seeing new USDC trading pairs are Avalanche (AVAX), Polkadot (DOT), and the artificial intelligence (AI) project Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET), formerly known as Fetch.AI.
At this time, the USDC pairs are only available via the ‘Pro Mode’ interface, which is accessible on both the mobile and desktop versions of the Bitvavo website. This Pro Mode allows experienced traders to make optimal use of the new pairs. However, Bitvavo is working on expanding this functionality to the general Bitvavo app, so that a broader user base can benefit from the new trading opportunities.
Circle is the first to obtain a MiCa permit
Bitvavo’s announcement comes shortly after Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, became the first to obtain a European Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) license. The law, which came into effect on June 30, introduces new rules for stablecoins. Just two days after its introduction, Circle became the first to receive a license under this new regulation. With an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license, Circle can now issue electronic money, such as dollar- and euro-based stablecoins, and offer payment services.
This license will allow Circle to expand its market share in the European Union, which has 450 million inhabitants. Before the MiCA rules came into effect, some crypto exchanges in Europe had already delisted stablecoins, including Tether’s USDT. Circle can now legally issue USDC and EURC within the EU.
