Bitcoin (BTC) has been stuck at $59,000 for the past few years, despite seeing some wild price swings. Ethereum (ETH), on the other hand, has gained some ground, with a price increase of over 4%.
Most altcoins are also following Ethereum, which is why the crypto market as a whole is turning green.
BTC price makes strong movements
The Bitcoin price did not exactly come out of the weekend unscathed. On Sunday, Bitcoin dropped by almost 5% from $61,500 to $58,500. Nevertheless, despite the deep crash on Monday, the week still ended in the green, which was mainly due to the price explosion on Thursday evening.
Bitcoin made some notable price moves yesterday. In the early afternoon, the price shot up about 2.5% in less than an hour – from $58,500 to $60,000. Less than half an hour later, Bitcoin took just half an hour to erase its entire gain, then rose more than 4% in a straight line to $60,500.
Since last night, calm has returned somewhat and Bitcoin is moving between $58,500 and $60,000. The next resistance is around $59,500. If this level is conquered, the arrows can be aimed at the next hurdle around $62,000-$63,000.
At the time of writing, the BTC price is $59,263, up 1.60% from 24 hours ago.
ETH rises 4%, altcoins follow
Ethereum has risen by as much as 4.22% over the past day to a current price of almost $2,700. Last night, the Ethereum price was even higher, peaking just under $2,750.
So Ethereum is outperforming Bitcoin by a wide margin, and according to crypto analyst Matthew Hyland, this trend could continue if Ethereum manages to close the week above a price of $2,814.
Many altcoins are following Ethereum and have managed to beat Bitcoin in the past 24 hours.
Within the top ten cryptocurrencies, the increases are limited to just a few percent. For example, solana (SOL) has increased by 2.07%, dogecoin (DOGE) by 3.78% and cardano (ADA) by 2.28%.
Within the broader top 100, there are a handful of coins that have increased in value by more than 10% in the past day:
