The President of the United States, Joe Biden, classified the prosecutor’s request as “scandalous” International Penal Tribunal (TPI) to issue arrest warrants against Israeli leaders, and stated that the United States will support Israel.
“The ICC prosecutor’s request for arrest warrants against Israeli leaders is scandalous. And let me be clear: Whatever this prosecutor may insinuate, there is no equivalence — none — between Israel and Hamas. We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security,” Biden said in a press release.
Earlier, ICC prosecutor Karim Khan said he had requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, as well as leaders of the Hamas movement, including Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Masri and Ismail Haniyeh.
