The Beijing government announced a series of export restrictions against 28 US defense companies, citing national security and international non-proliferation concerns.
Among the affected companies are sector giants such as General Dynamics, Boeing Defence, Space & Security, Lockheed Martin Corporation e Raytheon Missiles & Defence.
The measure, announced by Beijing Ministry of Commerce on Thursday, it also included the addition of 10 such companies to the list of entities considered untrustworthy.
This move is part of a broader effort to respond to continued U.S. arms sales to Taiwan, which Beijing considers a threat to its security and national interests.
“To safeguard national security and interests, and comply with international obligations, including non-proliferation, [a ação mais recente foi tomada] based on China’s export control law and regulations on export control of dual-use items,” the Ministry said in a statement.
The sanctions and restrictions are a continuation of policies previously announced by Beijing’s Foreign Ministry, reflecting a strict stance against US weapons policies towards Taiwan.
Tensions between the United States and China have intensified over the issue of Taiwan, with significant implications for commercial and diplomatic relations between the two powers.
This latest round of sanctions and listings highlights Beijing’s use of economic and trade measures as foreign policy instruments, particularly on issues it considers crucial to its sovereignty and national security.
