Radioprofile interviewed this morning Sebastián Tesoro, a worker at the Fate factory. Below, we reproduce their statements.
It has been almost a year since we have had any type of salary increase proposal from the FATE employers’ association. The owner is Madanes Quintanilla, who also owns Aluarthe main aluminum producer in the country and exporter in Latin America.
We are earning $1,500,000 per month, with a work rhythm that changed the work format to 48 hours a week with free time on Sundays. There was an agreement between SUTNA and the employers and we moved to this system six months ago. It is a system of six days of work and one day of rest.
Yesterday the inflation figure was 2.5%. And in the accumulated we are losing almost 30% of salary recomposition. This is a policy of the tire employers, not only of FATEsin Pirelli y Brigestonwhich are multinationals. These two have been making advances of future increases below inflation. It is a clear intention to break the collective bargaining agreement and it is one of the aspects that the Government wants to impose with the country’s employers..
We will see if we workers face this attempt at labor reform that is totally slave-like.. There is no point in the presentation of that project that is beneficial to the workers. It is regressive for us and beneficial for the employers. With the downward compensationwith the hour bankwith the vacation splits. These are rights that took 100 years of struggle to conquer.
In FATE there is a forceful rejection of the labor reform. Even though there are colleagues or in the world of work who have voted for Milei’s government, they did not vote for this. They did not vote for hunger for retirees, they did not vote to empty and defund Health and Garrahanor the movement of the disability.
You have to separate the chaff from the wheat. The government obtained 40% in the framework of an election with very low participation. 15% less than in the runoff. Afterwards it is quite divided. I belong to Left Front and we got a very good result, especially in the Federal Capital 10% with which it entered Myriam Bregman and also in the province of Buenos Aires with Nicolás del Caño.
In the elections that took place in October, the United States intervened with Trump, trying to extort and generate fear if this government was not voted for. Let’s not forget that before the October elections there was another look at the government’s situation. Fear played a role.
In FATE it continues to occur. I work in the automobile sector. In general we produce more than 7 thousand car, van and truck covers per day. Production decreased due to the economic recession. But that doesn’t mean they’re working at a loss.. They continue to make profits, perhaps less than what they were generating in previous years. Due to the opening of imports they have had some type of reduction in their profits, but FATE today produces thousands and thousands of covers every day. Any worker will tell you that.
The work rhythms are exhausting. We have different occupational diseases. Distinctive work accidents. Making tires is a production that involves working a lot with the body. And they do not work at a loss, but with a reduction in their profits.
Today’s action arises from an assemblybased on more than 40 hearings in which there was no agreement because the employers do not make any offer that is beneficial to the workers. We then decided to stop production and make a cut to make our claim known and to make our situation known.. But also against the labor reform.
That’s why too We were proposing in the different assemblies the need to also stop on the 18th against the reform. Differentiating ourselves from the CGT, which had to come out and propose mobilization without strikes. The same as the CTA.. It would have been much better if it had been a strike with mobilization so that the expression of the street could also put a stop to the Government’s attack.
