On Tuesday, June 2, the U.S. military employed a Hellfire missile to neutralize a tanker en route to Iran, intensifying the blockade enforced by President Donald Trump's administration. U.S. Central Command released video footage confirming the missile strike, which targeted the engine room of the Botswana-flagged M/T Lexie. The strike successfully disabled the vessel, preventing its progression towards Iranian ports.

In an official statement, Central Command clarified the circumstances leading to the military action. It asserted that the crew of the M/T Lexie disregarded multiple warnings from U.S. forces over a continuous 24-hour period, failing to comply with directives issued during this time. Consequently, a U.S. aircraft was dispatched, firing a Hellfire missile directly into the ship’s engine room, effectively incapacitating the tanker.
