Celso Amorimspecial advisor to the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for international affairs, expressed concern on Friday about the lack of clarity in the results of the recent elections in Venezuela.

In an interview given to CNN BrazilAmorim highlighted the lack of disclosure of the electoral records, which prevents official recognition of the declared victory of Nicolas Maduro.

O National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela proclaimed Maduro, who has held office since 2013, as the winner.

However, the opposition disputes this result, claiming that its own count, which covers about 90% of votes, indicates that the opposition candidate González obtained more than twice the support compared to the current president. These numbers are in line with independent polls carried out before the election.

“We need to talk to the CNE itself, to the other actors and have a clearer idea of what happened, because the truth is that to this day we do not have this clear vision because the minutes were not distributed as expected,” explained Amorim.

He also mentioned that although the opposition presents data based on quick counts and exit polls, these are considered informal and require further investigation to be validated.
