American investors are positive about the year 2025. More than two-thirds of Americans surveyed by Gallup expect the stock market to rise this year. And about the same percentage expect more geopolitical conflicts for America with other world powers.
Positive about the financial markets
About 66% therefore expect a green 2025 for the stock markets, and are therefore positive about the financial markets. This will most likely also work out well for Bitcoin, because the correlation between the price of the digital currency and share prices is generally high.
Funnily enough, that represents an increase of about 30% from the same poll in 2023. Back then, of course, we were coming out of a period of high inflation and low confidence in the economy.
Now that confidence is a lot greater, but there may also be a greater chance that the year will end in disappointment. The fact that so many people are positive generally also means that they are already invested in the market.
This means that their capital has already been put to work, and relatively little remains for new investments. That is of course not a golden rule, but in general the room to rise is more limited when a large part of the market is already bullish.
International peace in 2025?
Although only 23% of Americans expect their government to work “positively” with other governments under the Donald Trump administration. Only 32% expect 2025 to be a peaceful year internationally.
That may sound negative, but that is already a significant improvement compared to the 9% and 14% we saw in the same survey last year.
Yet there are also many people who view 2025 as a potentially difficult year. For example, a large proportion of respondents see the year as one that may be marked by the rising government deficit in the United States and the increased power of China.
Although we must mention that the Chinese economy does not look very strong at the moment.
