In a shocking revelation during a hearing in Madrid on Monday, Argentina’s former first lady, Fabiola Yanezhas filed serious charges against her ex-husband, former President Alberto Fernandez.
According to an 18-page document reported by the newspaper The GlobeYañez detailed episodes of reproductive violence and emotional isolation that occurred before Fernández assumed the presidency.
Yañez claims that, upon discovering her pregnancy, she faced rejection and contempt from Fernández, who allegedly demanded that she have an abortion.
“We have to solve this. You have to abort,” were the words attributed to the former president when informed about the pregnancy.
Furthermore, Yañez mentioned a situation of physical aggression in a subsequent pregnancy, claiming to have received kicks in the stomach, a fact that, if confirmed, could further complicate Fernández’s legal situation.
The toxicity of the relationship was highlighted by Yañez, who described excessive control on Fernández’s part, to the point that she reduced her social activities and isolated herself.
“I had to answer his messages every three minutes, so I decided to stop going out and I stopped going to friendships,” Yañez said.
The former first lady also accused Fernández of infidelity and emotional manipulation. During another pregnancy episode while they lived together, Yañez described how she was faced with rejection and isolation after sharing the news, recounting a period in which Fernández ceased all communication, leaving her isolated and marginalized in her own home.
The allegations not only highlight the personal challenges Yañez faced, but also raise questions about the former president’s behavior, whose actions described, if confirmed, could have significant legal implications.
