This weekend ended the XX Congress of the PTS-Frente on the left. Throughout four days, with dozens of interventions of multi -sectors workers; Young -both secondary, university and tertiary students as workers; retirees; Companions who occupy legislative banks -national and provincial- and intellectuals among others, a very delicious debate was developed. The Congress had prepared in the previous weeks, with debates in the various areas and regional, throughout the country. As part of that preparation, numerous reflections of different comrades had been published in internal bulletins. Part of them and the resolution projects proposed by the National Directorate for the Debate, were published in The daily left (They can be read here). After the amendments, contributions and conclusions of the congress, these resolutions will be again prepared and published in the next few days, also in this medium.
More than 300 companions participated in the Congress, adding delegates and delegates, guests and leaders. Les Delegades participated in representation of thousands of militants throughout the country. Also present were companions and fellow observers, who are part of the youth groups and workers who are promoted in common in dozens of faculties, schools, companies and other sectors. In addition, as part of our tradition, comrades of other groups of the Trotskyist-Cuarta International (FT-CI) were added, the organization that brings together other groups at the international level.
The first day of the Congress had taken place the previous weekend and had been dedicated to the analysis and discussion of an intentional situation. After a report by Claudia Cinatti, there had been an interesting debate about economic, geopolitical tensions and the growing warrism that mark the global scene. In the same session, fellow Emilio Albamonte provided a report on revolutionary internationalism and the tasks of the revolutionary socialists in the aforementioned situation.
In the week after that session, Israel’s military attack took place to Iran, a fact that aggravates tensions in the Middle East, a region today marked by the brutal genocide committed by the Zionist State against the population of Gaza. For this reason, at the time of voting the resolutions, Congress pointed out that the revolutionary socialists located with the nation and the people of Iran, who today faces the aggression of a colonialist and genocidal power, the United States gendarme in the Middle East. Among the most prominent resolutions was to relaunch a wide campaign against genocide in Gaza. Last Thursday 12, a mobilization in CABA had already taken place, as part of the National Day, which culminated in the France Embassy, as part of the support to our partner Anassa Kazib, politically persecuted in that country for denouncing the genocide in Palestine.
This Saturday, June 14, Congress dedicated its session both to the discussion about the national situation and to the debate of the program and the political discourse that the PTS must deploy in this scenario. The discussion was developed after a report given by the fellow Fernando Scolnik and MatĂas Maiello. Both the project on national situation and the project on agitation and political propaganda had been previously published in The daily left. The debate had dozens of interventions from classmates throughout the country on both issues. After the same, the opinions and added to the reports were relieved, which will be part of the final resolutions.
I was especially important to debate the political proscription of Cristina Kirchner. The tensions that cross the government and its economic scheme were also analyzed, and the rejection of the adjustment that begins to be seen in multiple salary struggles, working conditions and against dismissals. Rejection that grows despite the truce and betrayals of the Peronist union bureaucracy of the CGT.
The proscription against CFK – who was issued house imprisonment this Tuesday, imposing an electronic ankle and other hard conditions – is part of an attempt to strengthen the authoritarian tendencies of the regime. This proscription is functional to fierce adjustment to the service of the great business and IMF. Precisely because of this you cannot separate both fights.
This antidemocratic attack can arouse the development of a resistance that joins the growing social discontent, which is already expressed in numerous salary struggles, working conditions or dismissals, thus allowing the political and social opposition against the government to increase or accelerate.

This action of the Judiciary occurs within the framework of a strong organic crisis, where the party regime is exploded. From that crisis, after the failure of macrismo and everyone’s front, Milei emerged. This discredit does not reach only parties, but to the whole of the institutions, including the Judiciary itself.
During the discussion, the delegates and delegates considered the political response of the PTS-fitu correct before the proscriptive ruling. An answer that combined both a strong complaint to the attack on democratic freedoms, as well as the proposal of the need to develop a great national struggle to defeat proscription, promoting mass mobilizations in all cities; assemblies in work and study places; Takes of faculties and colleges; Cortes of routes and, also, fighting for imposing a national strike and a struggle plan for the CGT. That aims to defeat the proscription now, as part of the fight to unite that democratic demand to a program that responds to attacks and adjustments – ordered by the IMF and the great entrepreneurs – against salary, retirement, public health and public education budgets. This orientation is committed to developing a wide mobilization, which is not subordinated to the strategy of Peronism to use proscription and detention as part of its electoral campaign towards 2027.
The Congress allocated its third session to discuss the resolutions on organization -also published in Lid -that started by analyzing the relationship between party, avant -garde and masses. After a complete report by Les Comradas Laura Liff, Fredy Lizargue, Leila Schwind and AgustĂn Alejo, a debate with numerous interventions took place. The delegates gave an account of the enormous political activity that the party develops in factories, service companies and sectors such as health and education, in addition to numerous faculties and secondary schools.
Throughout the discussion, both political opportunities and existing challenges and contradictions were raised. One of the central debates was the need to continue imposing youth groups, workers and other sectors of the mass movement, betting to develop a broad militancy, which fights in each place to strengthen the positions and strength of the left, aiming to conquer strong support points for intervention in class struggle. To achieve positions that we have defined as “bastions” and “centers of gravity.”
The interventions showed the possibilities raised in various sectors, such as youth, teaching and health, as well as systematic work in industry, transport and other services. At the same time, interventions gave an account of a militancy and organization in sectors of science and technology (CNEA, CONICET, etc). In these sectors it is possible to discuss not only wages and working conditions but also the role and use of science in Argentina, today linked to favor businesses of the large capitalist groups.
In particular, Congress defined strengthening political work in teachers, health and youth, sectors where political processes, hard struggles of resistance and antiburocratic tendencies have been developed. Thus the organization of them was ratified in national branches, where companions and colleagues from different provinces and areas can coordinate and articulate both the political-ideological fights of the sector and national campaigns.
In the case of Youth, a resolution had also been published previously for its debate in Congress. In relation to work in teachers and health, the need to boost the policy of bread and roses, as an essential organization tool. This resolution proposal had also been published in the previous days.
The Congress also resolved to continue developing the movement of class groups (MAC-PTs) in different sectors of the working class, continuing the process of group construction that was seen in the important meeting held on May 1, in the Ferro covered stadium. This organization of service sectors and the industry has been giving in different provinces, through different instances of organization.
In this session it was decided to boost a great campaign of national support for the fight of the Garrahan, an emblematic fight today of health workers. Also surrounding support and solidarity to ceramist workers’ efforts in NeuquĂ©n, which is going through a very complicated situation, but constitute a great example of struggle in defense of jobs in times of crisis. The Congress also ratified the impulse to the fight against discriminatory dismissals, which have been carrying out companions of companies such as Shell, VW and Pilkinton, among others.
Finally, on the last day of the Congress, the delegates chose a new national direction, where together with comrades of greater tradition a new generation of young classmates, students and workers, from different provinces of the country, were integrated.
The final resolutions, corrected after their discussion and vote, will be published in The daily left In the next few days. For now, after four days of intense debate, the party of socialist workers culminated a very good congress.
