The Third Vice President and Minister for the Ecological Transition, Sara Aagesen, announced this Wednesday at the Congress of Deputies that the losses of generation prior to the historic blackout of last April 28 “began in Granada, Badajoz and Sevilla.”

During his speech at the government’s control session, Aagesen has specified those disconnections that until now were located in the southern and southwest zone of the country. Just after the blackout, the Red Electric de España (Ree) manager Eduardo Prieto implied that the plants that were disconnected were photovoltaic. The executive has not identified what technology it is.

The vice president explained that the Interministerial Committee that is analyzing the causes of the event, which has already has six meetings and has a group dedicated to the electrical system and another for cybersecurity, is analyzing “millions of data with the best equipment by the administration”.

According to Aagesen, “there are already elements that we know”: two oscillations in the Iberian Network and “with the rest of the European continent.” And until now they have “discarded hypothesis”: it was not a problem of coverage, or reserve, “or the size of the networks,” he said.

In response to a question by the deputy of the PP Borja Semper, which has reproached him for the “deeply unfortunate” explanations offered so far by the Government, with “much misinformation”, according to the popular, Aagesen has indicated that “misinforming is feeding hypotheses without knowing the truth”.

The Executive, he said, is working “without rest” to identify which “total transparency” failed to take adequate measures “in an extreme complexity issue that requires rigor” and not “simple recipes” such as “lowering taxes to energy companies. Of course, that is not serious. The Spaniards deserve the truth.” The vice president appears this Wednesday in the lower house in the plenary to give explanations about this crisis, whose causes the government says they do not know.
