Everyone is looking to 2027 and Peronism in crisis seeks to resurrect with a “broad” offer that does not discriminate against “traitors” or accomplices of the Milei government. From the visit to CFK at San José 1111, to this Wednesday’s meeting with the former PRO, Emilio Monzó, through events and photos with Guillermo Moreno, Miguel Ángel Pichetto appears as one of the central figures in that project.

According to Pichetto in a post on the social network X “Together with Emilio Monzó we held a meeting with libertarian leaders far from the Casa Rosada who share our vision of the country. We agreed on the need to build a capitalist, modern and productive proposal under a broad national front. The Argentina that is coming is built by joining forces and with a federal perspective.”

Pichetto, a key figure in the Senate during the first two Kirchnerist governments, began to collaborate directly with Macrismo after the victory of Cambiemos in 2015, being one of the main givers of governability. He supported the adjustment laws, such as the payment to vulture funds, the 2017 pension reform and the 2019 Budget drawn up by the IMF. In 2019, he was chosen as Macri’s vice presidential candidate in the Together for Change formula, after having been a reference for Peronism and Kirchnerism in the Senate. A politician with a long career, who went through Menemism, Duhaldism, Kirchnerism and ended up as a key ally of Macrism, always guaranteeing governability for the governments in power and supporting policies of adjustment and repression, along with his usual xenophobia.

Recently he has been one of the main promoters of a center-right coalition to electorally oppose the Milei government. As in the main sectors of Peronism, the proposal is to “leave the past behind” and unite those who want to build a “capitalist, modern and productive proposal.” That was the proposal he made to CFK on his last visit during his house arrest.

This is a project that seeks to represent a sector of the national bourgeoisie, which after giving its support to Milei, shows signs of breaking with the ruling party. But that sector, linked to the national industry, strongly celebrates the slave labor reform approved during the extraordinary sessions

At the end of February, Pichetto shared an event with Guillermo Moreno, former Secretary of Commerce during the governments of Néstor and Cristina Kirchner, who has been winking at Victoria Villarruel seeking to bring her closer to Peronism.

As part of these movements, we cannot fail to mention Kicillof’s attendance at the ExpoAgro dinner and his kind greeting with former president Mauricio Macri. During that same event, Monzó spoke with Carlos Bianco, Buenos Aires Minister of Government and Kicillof’s most trusted man, and they agreed to a meeting that also took place this Wednesday at the Provincial Government House, before the summit with Pichetto and the legislators of Unión y Libertad.

It is still uncertain what the different Peronist weapons will be for 2027, but there is no doubt about where these projects are heading. With the idea of ”amplitude” to confront Milei, they seek to whitewash any figure of the political caste, including those directly enemies of the working majorities, such as those who voted for the adjustment laws for Macri and Milei, such as the recent slave labor reform.

An electoral offer of the same type was proposed during the latter part of Together for Change’s mandate. “There is 2019” was the slogan he used to justify not going out to the streets and waiting for the presidential elections of that year. There, through a video broadcast from Cristina Kirchner’s account, the “Clarín operator” Alberto Fernández was presented as a presidential candidate for the Frente de Todos. A bad experience for the country’s workers, with real wages in decline, rampant inflation, and the return to the IMF, among other things. That failed project was the one that finally paved the way for the rise of Javier Milei.
