“A different approach to the news.” That is one of the phrases that was repeated the most in the survey that 610 readers of La Izquierda Diario responded to in recent months. And it is a pride. But it also challenges us.
Because beyond the 8.83 out of 10 with which they rated our content (highlighting the clear editorial line and the coverage of the struggles), the survey showed us something much deeper: the need to find each other.
A space for those who ask for more participation
64% of those who responded stated that they were not organized in any political, union or student space. However, 91% expressed a very high interest in politics. And, what is more important, 129 people expressed their willingness to participate in meetings, workshops or meetings to debate and exchange, going beyond the economic contribution.
These are data that draw a clear map: there is a politicized, critical community that values the independence of La Izquierda Diario but that, at the same time, feels the lack of meeting spaces in a context that pushes isolation.
The Assembly: an important step to continue building community
The survey outlined the path: they asked us for more opportunities for debate and training. For this reason, the Community Assembly this Saturday, March 14, is the first concrete response to that demand.
An open space to share views, to debate this situation of war and adjustment, and to think together how to strengthen a communication tool that, as many pointed out, is part of a broader ecosystem, but offers a fundamental trench: that of independent journalism that takes sides.
A community that transcends the screens
We know that our audience, for the most part, feels ideologically related, but that they are not looking for a mere “headline newspaper”, but rather a place where that affinity is transformed into something more active.
Faced with a government and a ruling class that opt for isolation, creating community is an antidote. It is building, as we say in our call, “spaces of belonging from solidarity.”
Therefore, we are waiting for you. Not only so that you continue choosing us, but so that your voice is part of this new stage. So that those who want to do something have a place to start doing it.
Let’s chat with Christian Castillo and Fernando Rosso. But above all, let’s listen to each other. Because La Izquierda Diario is not a company: it is a collective tool. And collective tools are built together.
We are waiting for you on Saturday 3/14, at 5 p.m., at the Cultural La Paz Arriba bar, Callao 1082 (CABA). If you are far away, ask us how to join virtually.
