American political commentator Tucker Carlson claims that Israel seeks to harm both Iran and Gulf Arab nations and that Saudi Arabia and Qatar ‘arrested Mossad agents who were planning bombings’
American political commentator and journalist Tucker Carlson claimed on Monday that Saudi Arabia and Qatar have arrested Israeli Mossad agents who planned bomb attacks in those countries.
“Why would the Israelis be carrying out bombings in Gulf countries, which are also being attacked by Iran?” asked Carlson on his program. “Aren’t they on the same side?”
“Israel wants to harm Iran, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait,” he added.
Carlson also alleged that Israel deliberately sows chaos among the United States’ Arab allies.
The American journalist did not cite a source for the claim, which Middle East Eye was unable to independently verify.
In February, Israeli forces detained Carlson and members of his team shortly after he interviewed Washington’s ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee.
In the interview, Huckabee asserted that Jews have a “divine right” to colonize Palestinian lands and denied Palestinian national identity.
The interview followed a public argument between the two online, after Carlson criticized Israel’s “shocking” treatment of Christians and accused Huckabee of failing to guarantee protection to Christians facing attacks from Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
In 2025, after visiting Palestinian refugees from Gaza in Qatar and accusing Israel of murdering children, a pro-Israel advocacy group in the US named Carlson its “Anti-Semite of the Year”, citing his opposition to the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
Continued attack between US and Israel
Carlson’s latest statements come amid continued US and Israeli attacks on Iran, after the two countries launched a joint attack that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, several other senior officials and hundreds of civilians on Saturday.
Around 150 girls were killed in an attack on a school in southern Iran in the initial bombings.
Iran retaliated by attacking American bases in the region and closing oil trade routes.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have attacked more than 500 American and Israeli targets, using 700 drones and hundreds of missiles.
On Monday, a drone attack caused a “small fire” at Saudi Arabia’s Aramco oil refinery in Ras Tanura.
Gas prices in Europe rose nearly 50% after Iranian attacks led Saudi Arabia to close its largest oil refinery and Qatar to halt production of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Due to the tension, insurers canceled war risk coverage for ships in the Persian Gulf.
