On Saturday morning, Israel and the United States launched a massive bombardment on Iran after weeks of negotiations in which the United States wanted to impose its interests under the threat of the largest military deployment in the region since the Iraq War.
The bombings sounded this morning in Tehran. Israel confirmed its involvement in the attacks, which it called “pre-emptive strikes,” according to the defense minister’s office. The ongoing attacks come after weeks of negotiations conditioned by high imperialist pressure from the United States and Israel, which sought to unilaterally impose on Iran the abandonment of its nuclear program, the destruction of the uranium enrichment sites of Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, and even the prohibition of civil uranium enrichment for energy purposes, in addition to a total dismantlement of its ballistic program.
The United States is using the military bases of Morón de la Frontera and Rota as key points for the transit and support of its military aircraft in its offensive against Iran. Both facilities play a strategic role by serving as a stopover and logistical support for planes that cross into the region.
On the night from Friday to Saturday, several signs of an imminent war multiplied, with the evacuation of several embassies, while the United States embassy in Qatar requested the confinement of its staff.
Donald Trump posted an eight-minute speech on Truth Social to announce the United States’ entry into the war against Iran. “Our goal is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very tough and terrible people. Their threatening activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases abroad, and our allies around the world.” Benjamin Netanyahu said the operation aimed to dismantle the Iranian regime, targeting senior regime representatives and civilian targets.
Trump even claimed that the United States is likely to lose American soldiers in the ongoing war, setting the stage for a high-intensity conflict.
Iran has responded by launching missiles into northern Israel and attacking US military bases in the region.
In his remarks, Trump called on Iranians to rise up against the Iranian regime. However, these imperialist attacks have nothing to do with the defense of the interests of the working classes and people of the region, quite the opposite. Hand in hand with imperialism, the chains of subjection and oppression of the Iranian people and the peoples of the region can only be redoubled. Its goal is to strengthen imperialist control over the Middle East and the interests of the State of Israel while carrying out a genocide against the Palestinian people.
