“Talking to a general secretary of the CGT, he told me that the government is missing four votes and that those would come from the Peronist governors,” said the union leader, who claims to oppose the law. The complaint reveals that the main collaborators of the anti-worker offensive are within the ranks of Peronism.
However, Moyano’s criticism seems selective. While calling for a strike, and emphasizing being against the law, he avoids pointing out the complicity of the CGT leadershipwhich did not prepare a real fight plan after the weak march in December and only called for mobilization for this February 11, the day on which the law will be discussed in the Senate.
Just this Monday, aeronautical, railway and truck drivers unions called for a strike for this Wednesdaybut without promoting assemblies or a strategy to massify the protest.
From the left, on the other hand, a campaign has been organized since the end of December to prepare a massive mobilization. The PTS participates in zonal coordination and supports witness struggles such as that of Lustramax, while promoting a broad and critical call towards the leadership of the CGT.
The deputies of PTS-FIT, Nicolás del Caño denounced: “The government makes a pact with the governors against the workers and winks at the CGT leadership to keep the cash.” While Christian Castillo added: “Those who vote for this must be declared historical enemies of the working class.”
The session in the Senate is scheduled for this Wednesday at 11 a.m., with strong protests called in front of Congress. The left calls to mobilize from 12 p.m., to extend the protest with an event and open microphone at 6 p.m., and to promote a fight plan that includes a general strike to defeat a reform that attacks historical rights, facilitates layoffs and benefits banks and business chambers.
