Representatives of the Israeli army finally stated in a press conference that the number of Palestinians killed during these two years in the Gaza Strip is around 70,000 people. Where it says dead it is necessary to read murdered, precisely by the Zionist army itself, in a systematic campaign of genocide against the Palestinian population. The information was later published by the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

In this way, and although for long months they sought to ridicule the death figures provided by the authorities of the enclave’s health ministry, saying that they were “inflated”, finally and in the face of the overwhelming weight of the evidence, they had to recognize that these public figures are essentially correct. It was the first war in which Israel participated in which it avoided publishing the death toll of the state it was attacking. That is, they deliberately hid an account of their daily crimes. This recognition implies admitting to having massacred thousands of babies, children, and women.

They also clarified, like the Gaza Ministry of Health, that these figures do not reach the number of missing people. Different studies assume that the final number of victims, including those still under the rubble, is much higher, although estimates vary.

Already last August, an audio of the former head of intelligence of the Zionist army, Aharon Haliva, had been leaked, in which he stated “that there are already 50,000 dead in Gaza is necessary for future generations.” Although the number was higher then, it gave clear signs of the intention to massacre the Gazan population.

The recognition by the army of what millions of people have been denouncing around the world in massive mobilizations is not part of any change of course in the criminal policy of the State of Israel. Far from it, despite the ceasefire that has been in force since October 11, in that period the IDF murdered 526 people, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.

In fact, in the last 48 hours, Israeli attacks intensified, killing around 37 people, including entire families. One of the attacks was in Al Mawasi, in the south of the Strip in a sector where many families survive in tents. There were also attacks in Gaza City and Khan Younis.

This systematic policy on the part of the State of Israel occurs within the framework of the promotion of the reactionary “Peace Board”, made up of figures from the global extreme right, which Donald Trump seeks to install in charge of Gaza as part of a second stage in his colonization plan for the Strip that only announces new hardships for the Palestinian people.
