Crypto prices are rising, but Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs are suffering big losses

The crypto market had a good day yesterday, but there was little sign of this on the American stock exchange. The Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) funds have seen large amounts of money leave, continuing their poor form of recent times.

BTC and ETH funds lose capital

The Bitcoin spot Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), listed funds that buy bitcoins and thus follow the price, lost the largest mountain with a net outflow of 147.4 million dollars.

On Monday, the funds recorded a narrow plus of $6.8 million, but the five trading days before that all ended with losses. In total, more than $1.7 billion has gone up in smoke.

The Ethereum funds saw $63.6 million exit yesterday. On Monday they did much better than their Bitcoin counterparts with a plus of 117 million dollars. The four days before that they lost more than $600 million.

BlackRock was the biggest loser yesterday. The world’s largest asset manager saw $102.8 million disappear from its Bitcoin fund and $59 million from its Ethereum fund.

The Ripple (XRP) and Solana (SOL) funds ended the day in the green. According to SoSoValue data, they raised $9.16 million and $1.87 million, respectively.

Crypto prices rise due to weaker dollar

At the same time, the prices of the two largest crypto coins, and most other coins, made a big jump yesterday.

Bitcoin ended the day with a gain of 1.02 percent and Ethereum rose even 3.28 percent.

During the day, the prices did not know how to choose a direction, but in the end Donald Trump was the deciding factor.

The US president said that “the value of the dollar is great” as it fell more than 10 percent in 2025 in its worst year since 2017, sending it down 1 percent to its lowest level in almost four years.

That’s exactly what Trump wants. With a weaker dollar, interest rate cuts are easier to defend (because they stimulate the economy without immediately making the currency too strong). And it also helps economic growth, because American products simply become cheaper for foreign countries.

These are also the reasons why investors respond positively. The S&P 500 even managed to reach a new record and precious metals are also booming (again).
