The new Government spokesperson, Elma Saiz, insists on the commitment to “present a good Budget project throughout the first quarter of 2026” although she flatly rules out that failure to approve them will mean the end of the legislature. “No way. We have a lot ahead of us. We have to change the housing model: from talking about business to talking about law. The legislatures last four years and we are moving forward with this very important social agenda,” he explained this Monday in an interview on Cadena SER.

Saiz has once again highlighted the Budgets that already exist, extended since the last legislature and that, in his opinion, allow the legislative development of this Government. “Budgets can be many, but there are budgets that have cuts and there are extended budgets that deepen social cohesion. Not any type of budget is the same. Having such positive extended budgets allows us that social cohesion.”

The spokesperson has also justified that in the coming months, and in the absence of a parliamentary majority to support the Executive’s action, the ministries can promote measures that do not even require the approval of Congress. “The strange thing would be if a Government was not constantly thinking about measures that improve people’s lives. It is important that we know what our situation is like. There are measures that do not have to be validated by Congress. There is a lot that can be done that does not have to have that legal status.”

Regarding the electoral debacle of the PSOE in Extremadura, Saiz has indicated that he is “very aware” that “corruption produces disaffection”, although he has blamed María Guardiola for the advancement of elections that have led to “the lowest participation in history and the representation of the extreme right in the Extremaduran parliament has doubled. They have not been the results we expected. It is in our hands to improve those results,” he added.

Elma Saiz has defended the “very important moment” in which she assumes the functions of spokesperson, replacing Pilar Alegría. “It is more important than ever to give voice to all the measures that this progressive coalition Government is implementing, which is also being a beacon for many other countries,” he concluded.
