The meeting was held at EP No. 15, located in the Tigre town of El Talar, and arose as an initiative of the body of SUTEBA Tigre delegates in the face of attacks by the government and employers on workers’ rights, such as compensation, collective agreements, working hours and the right to strike.

In a climate of a workers’ assembly, where each participant had a voice and a vote, there were present – in addition to the teachers of the local SUTEBA section – Madygraf, oil and cotton producers, workers from Mondelez Plant Pacheco and Georgalos organized in the Bordó Group, the internal commission and those dismissed from the latter factory, the general secretary of SUTNA San Fernando Miguel Ricciardulli, the Internal Board of ATE–NASA (Atucha) and CTEP references.

The coordination meeting was convened by various labor, student and social sectors. The Internal Commissions of Linde (Pacheco Plant), Bed Time, Lustramax and Jumbo Pilar called the meeting, along with delegates from the Internal Commission of the Rioplatense Refrigerator. The Internal Commission of Mondélez Pacheco joined.

The Municipal Workers Union of Vicente López joined, as well as different sections of the CICOP: Tigre, CICOP Cordero Gender Secretariat, CICOP Eva Perón and CICOP Belgrano. Likewise, there were workers from ATEM–SECCO and delegates from Finning CAT, from the construction and forestry sectors of the UOM.

They were joined by congressmen from the Bordó Food List of Mondélez and Georgalos, and the ATE Tigre Internal Education Board. Spaces such as the Raíces Popular High School, the 19 de Diciembre Popular High School, the Campana Popular Antifascist Library and the Karne de Maquina Information Collective also participated.

Debates that build unity

Those present debated the danger of labor reform, suspensions, salary deterioration, dismissals and sanctions against teachers due to forceful measures.

They also pointed out that the leaders of the union centers are focused on internal affairs and are complicit with the government by negotiating the reform behind the workers’ backs, while in the Northern Zone different sectors continue to be mobilized: the camp of ILVA workers, the Georgalos struggle, the strikes in Fate and BedTime, the demands for justice for the death of the young worker Alan Paz, in addition to the resistance of INTI and ATUCHA workers. The strikes of SUTEBA Tigre and Multicolor also stood out, with an impact on all Buenos Aires teaching.

In common agreement, they stressed that permanent coordination of all working-class sectors in struggle is necessary and maintained that the way to confront the attacks is to move towards a democratically discussed plan of struggle, with the perspective of broader national measures.

The coordination opened this Saturday marks a path of unity and solidarity between the different sectors, with the aim of strengthening the fight against the adjustment of Milei and the IMF.

They raised the need to demand from below the CGT and the CTAs a strike and a plan of struggle towards a General Strike that stops the employers’ and state offensive, and that the crisis this time be paid for by the businessmen, the IMF and the political class that supports the reform.
