A conversation about the perspectives of the left in Argentina and in the world in the context of the international crisis and the return of the class struggle.

Much has been debated about the emergence of the extreme right in the world as part of an “epochal climate.” However, less attention was paid to the countertrends that emerged on the left both in the field of social struggle and in the political sphere.

In this interview, Emilio Albamonte reviews the international situation that is going through a moment of “interregnum” or systemic chaos; the return of a classic class struggle in very important countries such as Italy and the crisis that affects the main power in the world: the United States. It also reflects on the Argentine context, the strengths and weaknesses of Javier Milei’s project and the crisis of Peronism. Finally, he proposes some ideas for the emergence of the left that finds itself facing a window of opportunity.

Albamonte is founder and leader of the Socialist Workers Party of Argentina (PTS) and the Trotskyist Fraction – Fourth International (FT-CI), he is co-author (with Matías Maiello) of the books Debates and fundamentals on the struggle for socialism and Socialist strategy and military art, in addition to multiple articles in national and international left-wing publications.
