A dense column of black smoke, visible from kilometers away, rose in the area of the Spegazzini Industrial Park, after a deafening roar alerted the residents of Ezeiza and nearby towns.

Until now, the reason that caused the explosion that caused that column of smoke is unknown; They estimate that it would have occurred inside a factory dedicated to the production of agrochemicals. If so, it raises additional concern about the possible release of toxic substances into the environment. Until now, the authorities are calling on neighbors not to leave their homes.

An aeronautical worker, a delegate of Aerolineas’ outsourced GPS, posted on his

Gastón Granados, the mayor of Ezeiza, said: “It’s all very confusing, there was a strong explosion in the Spegazzini industrial estate. We are working to put out the fire and then to see what happened.” “We are trying to control it, but we cannot. We cannot rule out or confirm that a plane fell. The windows of my house and the neighborhood exploded. We are evacuating the families who live nearby,” Granados added.

The episode reactivates criticism about state controls in industrial centers and the safety conditions in which these companies operate, often with lax regulations that expose workers and neighboring populations to risk.
