The workers of Industrias Montecarlo SA decided to take over the plant and continue working while they wait for the employers to pay them what they owe: almost three months of salary.
The company is located in Eldorado, Misiones. The logging union indicated that the company’s proposal was unsatisfactory and the employees “remain available to work,” even while negotiations continue. (First Edition)
“If there is no agreement, we will appropriate what corresponds, because there is capital. We are talking about more than 200 million pesos, between debt and readjustments. We believe it is enough to start the cooperative and resume production,” said the workers and the union.
The area and that industry are not the only case. In Corrientes, the Gobernador Virasoro logging company is also coming from a long conflict over owed salaries. Businessmen, big and small, earn millions from logging, forestry crops and sawmills, but they pay pittance. Or they don’t even pay them directly.
That’s why these logging workers are a good example.
