One of the largest tech giants in the world joins forces with an emerging crypto project. The founder of Cardano (ADA), Charles Hoskinson, is very enthusiastic, and that is not without reason.
Strategic cooperation between Midnight and Google Cloud
The Midnight Foundation announced a strategic collaboration with Google Cloud via its own blog. The aim is to build a new infrastructure that integrates privacy and regulatory compliance with digital systems.
Midnight is a Sidechain from Cardano. This means that it is running next to the main network and is specially designed to offer extra functions. In this case the focus is on better privacy protection. However, the final security and storage of transactions is guaranteed by Cardano, which acts as the main chain.
Midnight is designed to overcome certain limitations of public block chains. With traditional networks, all transactions are visible to everyone. This is usually favorable in a worldwide network in which payments must be made between unknown parties. But for applications where confidentiality is crucial, complete transparency has the opposite effect. Think of governments or health care, where it is essential that sensitive data is not made public.
According to Fahmi Syed, president of the Midnight Foundation, this technology offers “a competitive advantage for companies that work with sensitive data”. Google Cloud will also run a validator, a computer that checks transactions on the Midnight network.
The collaboration with Google Cloud must lead to applications where users decide for themselves which information they share. Think of digital identities on the blockchain, where data such as your address is not stored publicly, or to violate medical data without violating the privacy of patients.
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson responded to X as follows: “Proud to work with Google on Midnight. It is a fantastic company that adds a lot of value to our ecosystem.”
The collaboration with Google Cloud is a new step for Midnight, which previously announced collaborations with Web3 game developer Paima Studios and Development Platform Maestro, among others. The launch of the mainnet is also planned this year.
Another 19 days to claim Free Night tokens
While the collaboration with Google puts the project in the worldwide in the spotlight, the long-awaited Night-Airdrop is still running. The Glacier Drop has been live since August and lasts 19 days.
Many cryptobeleggers have a chance. Anyone who had at least 100 dollars of one of the supported coins on 11 June 2025 – including Cardano, Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) or Ripple (XRP) – is eligible. Tokens can be claimed via the official Midnight Claim Portal, where you enter your own wallet address.
Google Cloud Omarmt Blockchain
Google Cloud is no longer an unknown player in the crypto world. In recent years, the company has entered several collaborations with various blockchain projects, including BNB Chain, Tezos, Theta Network and Aptos Labs.
At the same time, Google Cloud is also working on its own blockchain initiative: the Google Cloud Universal Ledger (GCUL). This platform focuses specifically on the financial sector and must serve as a neutral infrastructure for banks and payment companies. The project is still running in a closed test phase for the time being.
